Scottish tower blocks tumble…

A 1960s high-rise block of flats in Edinburgh was demolished at the weekend, in front a crowd of over 600 people. Former resident Ian Begg helped detonate the explosvie charges to bring down the Broomview Court block in the Sighthill area of Edinburgh.

Bridge implosion goes to plan…

The first-stage of the Missouri River bridge implosion that we reported just over a week ago (http://www.demolitionnews.com/2008/09/03/bridge-implosion-scheduled/) has been completed according to plan. A video of the successful implosion can be seen here.

Bridge implosion scheduled…

The demolition of the Missouri River Bridge at Glasgow will begin Monday, Sept. 8, and continue through Wednesday, Sept. 10, according to the The Missouri Department of Transportation. Details of the project can be found here.

Tinsley towers come down…

The Tinsley cooling towers were imploded in Sheffield, UK during the August Bank Holiday weekend. Although shrouded in secrecy and darkness, Demolition News managed to capture some video footage as the towers came down.
