Cuddy Group provides latest update on calamitous collapse.

Failed Welsh demolition contractor Cuddy Group has issued a statement naming the administrators appointed to handle its affairs. That statement – reproduced below – also shows the depth of the company’s collapse which has taken down the entire organisation.

Alistair Wardell and Nick Wood were appointed joint administrators of the following companies on 23 July 2018:

  • Cuddy Demolition & Dismantling Limited
  • Cuddy Demolition Limited
  • Cuddy Scaffolding Limited
  • Cuddy Environmental Limited
  • Cuddy Remediation Limited
  • Cuddy Plant and Transport Limited
  • Cuddy Groundworks Limited

Alistair Wardell and Nick Wood were also appointed joint administrators of Cuddy Recycling Limited on 25 July 2018.

The companies have ceased to trade and any enquiries should now be directed to the joint administrators using the contact details below:

The affairs, business and property of the Cuddy group of companies are being managed by Alistair Wardell and Nick Wood. The Joint Administrators act as agents of the companies and without personal liability. Both are authorised by the IPA to act as insolvency practitioners.

Video – Spring Valley bridge partially felled…

First blast drops Southern span.

The southern span of the old Route 89 bridge over the Illionois River in Spring Valley was imploded early Tuesday morning.

The bridge’s replacement, the Illinois Valley Veterans Memorial Bridge, opened in June. The new bridge provides a wider span for emergency vehicles, pedestrians and bike traffic.

The other span of the old Route 89 Bridge, which was built in 1943, will be demolished in the next few weeks.

Eyemouth site gets all clear…

Council seeks to allay fears of local residents.

Scottish Borders Council has said there is “minimal risk” from material at a demolition site in Eyemouth, Scotland.

Local residents had drawn attention to roofing panels with a printed warning about the risk of breathing asbestos fibres.

The council said the contractor has assured it that work being undertaken at the former high school complies with official regulations.

Broken roofing on the site could be seen with asbestos health warnings printed on some fragments.

But the council said the demolition work did not require to be carried out under controlled conditions, and that the demolition was being carried out by trained staff.

A council spokesman said: “As part of pre-contract works a full asbestos survey was undertaken at the former Eyemouth High School. The materials identified in the building as containing asbestos were deemed as ‘non-licensed’ and as such do not have to be removed under ‘controlled conditions’. This is due to the make-up of the materials and the minimal risk of any asbestos fibres being released which would exceed the relevant control limits. The contractor is a licensed asbestos removal contractor and all works are being undertaken by trained staff.”
