Election Promises vs Economic Reality

A speech by Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves has revealed the true depth of the financial struggles inherited from the previous government, and the implications for the construction industry.

We discuss halted infrastructure projects and the unrealistic housing targets set by the Labour Party, painting a bleak picture for the immediate future of the UK’s economy and public services.

The document that changed everything…

On 31 July 1974, Royal Assent was granted to a new piece of legislation that would redraw the health and safety landscape within the UK; that would reimagine how health and safety was monitored, managed and policed on UK demolition and construction sites; and that continues to have a positive impact upon the sector today.

That piece of legislation was the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, and it was published 50 years ago yesterday.

In this exclusive film, we trace how the legislation came into being, the drivers behind its introduction and the (mostly) positive impact it has had in the five decades since.

Purple Reign is over

Northerntrack founder cites impact of overseas imports as he prepares to close.

After 34 years of service dedicated to the UK demolition and construction industry, Leeds-based Northerntrack is preparing to close its doors for the final time.

There is no scandal and no creditors left licking in their wounds. This is a planned closure; and one that has been prompted by the impact of cheap imported attachments and the growing threat from auction houses.
