Crews demolish former holding cells in NY police station. On June 8, 2016, demolition began on the 16 prisoner holding cells in New York City’s 1st Precinct (formerly the 4th Precinct). The cells held the station’s arrested suspects from 1912, when the building was constructed, until about 1990.
