Five excavators’ worth of bridge-munching power. On July 19th Transport Quebec sent heavy equipment to demolish the Avenue St-Charles overpass so that they could build a new bridge so that the city could service the ever growing population of Vaudreuil. This excellent video captures the action.

UK debut for Zaxis high reach. The first Hitachi ZX350LC-5 high-reach demolition excavator in the UK was used by RM Penny (Plant Hire & Demolition) to demolish a four-storey office block in Wolverhampton earlier this year. The machine has a reach of 23 metres and can carry a maximum tool weight of 3,000 kg.
Video – Barnsley says farewell to bridge…
Demolition starts to remove Kendray Bridge. Work has started to demolish a 30-year-old bridge in Barnsley in preparation for a £41 million revamp of the town centre. Kendray Street bridge is the first structure to be knocked down to allow for the redevelopment, which includes a new town square, library and a refurbished market.

Video – Excavator falls in bridge collapse…
Operator lucky as bridge collapses beneath him. An amateur video captures the moment a bridge collapsed, sending an excavator plummeting onto the road below. Thankfully, press reports suggest that the operator was unhurt and there were no injuries reported at the scene in Ashland County, Ohio.
