Less than two weeks ago, outgoing NFDC CEO Howard Button told the Construction News magazine that demolition contractors were ideally placed to carry out refurbishment work.
Button is unquestionably right; and with clients increasingly considering refurbishment ahead of outright demolition, his comments were also timely.
Unfortunately, judging by a new announcement from procurement provider Pagabo, the wider industry does not share Button’s view.
The company has just named 93 companies that will share the spoils of a £1.0 billion, four-year refurbishment and refit framework. And the list does not contain a single demolition contractor.
