Workers searching the rubble of the collapsed Killen Generating Station in Adams County have recovered the body of Doug Gray, 42, one of two workers missing after the Wednesday collapse of the closed power plant.
Adams County Sheriff Kimmy Rogers said the recovery happened earlier Saturday evening, but could not say what time.
The Killen Generating Station closed in 2018 but has been undergoing demolition and remediation work this year under Commercial Liability Partners as part of a redevelopment plan. On Wednesday morning, the roof of the main building collapsed, officials said.
Workers have been on the site since Wednesday looking for Gray and the other missing worker, 47-year-old Jamie Fitzgerald.
The Adamo Group is “fully cooperating with other agencies and organizations”, according to a statement from Richard Adamo, president of the Adamo Group.
The Adamo Group is asking the community to keep Gray and his family in their prayers.
“Our condolences, thoughts, and prayers are with (Doug Gray’s) family, his fiancée, his friends, and his co-workers during this very sorrowful and difficult time,” Adamo said in the email. “We wish to thank the region’s first responders and emergency personnel for their tireless and selfless efforts through this tragic ordeal.”
