Larger-than-life North West demolition man passes away.
Peter Cordwell, the figure-head and founder of Oldham-based PGC Demolition has sadly passed away. DemolitionNews understands he was just 48 years old.
Cordwell was a well-known figure in the demolition industry in the North West of England.
He achieved a degree of notoriety in the region after a dispute with Rochdale Council which had accused his company of “disturbing residents and marring the openness of Green Belt land”. Cordwell appealed against an order for him to stop certain practices at his Mount Farm premises on Heap Brow.
Although he failed to get the order overturned, Cordwell was successful in gaining permission to use some of the buildings and land for parking, storage, servicing, repair and office uses.
