High reach excavator deployed to remove cars from ill-fated car park.
Work is underway to demolish the fire-raved multi-storey car park at the Echo Arena in Liverpool. But before the crew from Howard Stott Demolition can start on the structure itself, there is the small matter of the burned-out cars still sitting in the structure almost a year after the fire.
The blaze engulfed Liverpool Waterfront car park in King’s Dock, next to the Arena and Convention Centre, on New Year’s Eve 2017. More than 1,000 cars were completely burnt out in temperatures reaching 1,000C, said Liverpool City Council.
