Dutch dismantle giant steel bridge.
Between October and January, the bridge sections of Rotterdam’s old Botlek bridge were delivered in stages to the dismantling yard of Jansen Recycling Group in Vlaardingen, The Netherlands. Taken as a whole, the sections weigh some 6,000 tonnes.
On 23 November and 6 December, the largest sections from the old Botlek bridge were successfully unloaded in Vlaardingen. A sheerleg (Bonn&Mees) was used to transfer the bridge sections — measuring 80 metres long and 60 metres high — to the yard. These two sections alone weighed an impressive 4,000 tonnes.
