Stunning video captures overnight bridge demolition in all its balletic majesty.
There is, perhaps, no greater test of the demolition man’s skill than an overnight bridge possession.
With a road or railway scheduled to open in just a few hours and the very real threat of financial penalties for late completion hanging over them, demolition engineers’ organisational and planning capabilities are stretched to the max during a brief but often manic flurry of activity in which several days’ work is condensed into just a few hours.
And if you think I am exaggerating, check out the film below in which 60+ men and more than 40 machines erase a motorway bridge in Narbonne, FRance in just 24 hours:
Bifurcation A9/A61 à Narbonne – Démolition du pont de la Nautique – Nuit du 14 au 15 octobre 2017. from VINCI Autoroutes on Vimeo.
