A blast wall has been erected ahead of the Georgia Dome implosion.
How do you protect a building valued at around $1.5 billion while imploding one worth a few hundred million? That is the challenge facing the demolition crew ahead of the much-anticipated demolition of the famous Georgia Dome stadium which begins with an implosion scheduled for the morning of 20 November.
Crews are in advanced stages of erecting a blast wall around the Dome to keep the debris in and prevent other buildings – most notably the neighbouring Mercedes Benz Stadium – from being damaged.
The wall is some 50 feet in height and “several football fields in length” according to local news reports.
