Old Cohoes-Waterford Bridge imploded.
The piers of the old Cohoes-Waterford Bridge were imploded on Thursday. Traffic was halted in the area while crews demolished the six old piers across the Mohawk River.
A $21.5 million project to replace the bridge started in 2016. The new bridge, which was built about 80 feet east of the former bridge, opened in July. Demolition of the old bridge, which had been standing since 1932, began soon after.
