Clarke Demolition Company becomes part of TRU7 group.
In a move that will come as a shock to just about everyone in the UK demolition business, Clarke Demolition Company has been acquired by TRU7, the group that includes Trucks ‘R’ Us hire and sales and Tippers ‘R’ Us aggregates and muckaway haulage.
Industry veteran David Clarke, a former president of the National Federation of Demolition Contractors and a much-respected industry figure, remains with the company and all staff are being retained in a move that has the potential to make the Woodbridge-based company a significant force in the UK demolition sector.
TRU7 has a formidable reputation, a fact that is evidenced by its significant recent investments in tippers, excavators and dust suppression equipment. Company owner Guy Nicholls says that he has known the Clarke family “since he was a boy” and actually regrets not buying CDC sooner.
He says that CDC has an excellent reputation and is planning to back that reputation with a significant investment that will see the arrival of additional equipment and the opening of a dedicated materials recycling facility.
The news of CDC’s acquisition is the latest example of a shift in the UK demolition landscape, and comes just a few months after DSM Demolition was bought out. Furthermore, rumours abound about other big name contractors being acquired.
