Demolition workers were moments from being crushed after a gust of wind collapsed part of a building in Hamilton’s central city.
At least one worker dived to safety after a 20 by 4 metre section of roof unexpectedly toppled into the Victoria St site at lunchtime on Monday.

“They were close enough to be in danger and it was certainly an unexpected collapse,” he said standing outside the cordon on Monday.
“I think we are lucky that no one got seriously injured in this.”
