This video shows the removal of the Dowling Avenue Bridge, which spans the F.G. Gardiner Expressway.
The bridge was made up of two spans, one span over the eastbound F.G. Gardiner Expressway and one span over the westbound F.G. Gardiner Expressway. The bridge is comprised of concrete girders and a concrete deck. There is a large concrete pier that supports both spans in the median between the eastbound and westbound lanes of the F.G. Gardiner Expressway.
The time lapse recording starts on the evening of Friday, May 13 and ends in the early morning hours of Monday May 16. The area under the Bridge is closed to traffic during this time period, but the traffic lanes on Lakeshore Boulevard, just south of the Expressway, remained open.
