The Chinese prove once again that they are a law unto themselves.
Regardless of what line of business you are in, there is nothing worse than losing a contract to someone else, particularly when it is highly likely that you will run into that someone at a function or meeting. Call me old fashioned but, at times like those, the temptation to push a competitor down a long flight of stairs is almost overwhelming. But, being English, I apply additional starch to my already stiff upper lip and offer hearty (if insincere) congratulations.
That is not the way in China. In China, when you lose out to a local rival, you break out the wheel loaders and stage a battle royal in the middle of the street.
