Robert Collard_ Managing Director_ R Collard LtdHampshire-based R Collard Ltd has been named as a finalist in the prestigious MRW National Recycling Awards 2016 in the Construction Recycler of the Year category.

The National Recycling Awards reward excellence and it was the commitment that R Collard has shown placing itself at the centre of the circular economy of the South of England that has gained them a place amongst the finalists. Key initiatives that impressed the judges included the development of a new state-of-the-art Materials Recycling Facility to increase waste processing capacity four fold, the acquisition of a locally based skip hire firm to increase wastes generated by 30% and the £2.5m investment in a new technology wash plant which has enabled R Collard to process inert wastes into high-grade aggregates all year round.

These measures have increased wastes managed by 24.5% and have made a significant and positive impact on the local economy. Some signature local projects include the Arborfield and Wellesley garrison sites and the A34 Chieveley interchange project where R Collard provided 10,000 tonnes of 40mm shingle for the redevelopment.

“Being a finalist in these National Recycling Awards is a great honour for the company,” says Robert Collard, R Collard’s Managing Director. “We have focused our efforts on creating a business that puts sustainability at the forefront of all our service areas and it is gratifying that the judges at MRW have recognized this. This year R Collard is celebrating 21 years in business and this is encouragement to continue to build on these successes for the next 21.”
