Vegas resort hotel requires more than one bite at the cherry.

Las Vegas officials say the shuttered Riviera is so large that its towers will need to be brought down in two separate implosions.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and its contracted demolitions experts say they are planning for the hotel’s towers to come down in separate months. Senior Vice President of Operations Terry Jicinsky said Tuesday that it would be unsafe to bring down both at once.

The rest of the Riviera structures will start to come down before the first implosion, which is planned for June. Jicinsky says crews will start by demolishing low-rise buildings like parking garages.
