Implosion drops massive Oakmont span.
Just a few moments ago, explosive demolition crews carried out the successful demolition of the Hulton Bridge, dropping the 108-year old span into the Allegheny River below.
The blast occurred at 9:49 a.m. and it took only a few seconds for the bridge to drop into the water.
The blast came earlier than the 10 a.m. schedule because “when everything is ready there’s no reason to wait, ” PennDOT District 11 Executive Dan Cessna said.
