Film captures the 1974 implosion of the former Croydon A power station.
Anyone visiting the Croydon branch of Ikea to purchase a Dagstorp sofa, some Riktig Ögla curtain rings or a set of Ödmjuk coffee mugs will have noticed the two disused smoke stacks that now stand sentry over the Valley Park Retail Centre upon which they stand.
But long before they were adorned with Ikea’s familiar Swedish colours, those twin stacks served a more practical purpose as part of the Croydon A power station that was demolished in 1974.
