Stevenage asbestos and demolition contractor becomes latest addition to industry dead pool.
Hertfordshire-based Caswell Environmental Services has confirmed that it is ceasing to trade and that liquidators have been appointed.
Rumours about the state of the company began circulating earlier this week but, for the past three days, the company’s telephones have been diverted to voicemail.
However, that voicemail message has now changed to say that the company is ceasing to trade and that a meeting of creditors will be called to discuss liquidation procedures.
A liquidation specialist – Menzies – has been appointed to handle the closure and disposal of the company and a letter is being sent to creditors within the next few days.
There is no news as yet on job losses.
The Caswell Group is a family business, founded in 1989 by Carl Caswell. Although perhaps best known for its asbestos removal activities, the company continued to run a demolition division.
