Accident claims life of one of US demolition’s biggest names.
John T. Adamo Jr., the president of Adamo Group, has been killed in a demolition accident, a family attorney confirmed today.
Adamo’s company has been a leading demolition contractor in Detroit for more than a generation and has participated most recently in the city’s extensive blight-removal effort.
“He has passed away,” attorney Christian Hauser said. “It was unexpected.”
Hauser confirmed the accident happened at the AEP Muskingum River Plant in Beverly, Ohio. The plant was being demolished after closing this summer, according to the Parkersburg News and Sentinel.
Adamo is survived by his wife and four daughters, Hauser said. He did not know his age.
Brian Farkas, who worked with Adamo as special projects director for the city of Detroit’s blight demolition effort, said “he was a great partner for us and a great man.”
Adamo Group is a Detroit-headquartered company that has worked on demolition and environmental remediation projects since 1964.
