Power station stack and boiler bite the dust.
Entergy Arkansas finished their demolition of the Robert E. Ritchie power plant in Helena with a controlled implosion Thursday morning.
There were two components left on the Ritchie power plant after one of the boilers was imploded last October. The other, larger boiler and a 450-foot emissions stack were demolished on Thursday. Crews will clear the debris and finish the demolition over the next several months.
According to a release from Entergy Arkansas, the plant was retired in 2013 “as part of a process to modernize the company’s generating portfolio to match ongoing and projected supply needs.”
