Dykon lays Park Avenue hotel to rest.
In the blink of an eye, nearly a century of Detroit’s history disappeared into dust Saturday following an early-morning implosion.
The historic Park Avenue Hotel was brought down around 8 a.m. as some watched from a parking deck across from the Fox Theatre and others watched from Woodward Avenue about a mile away.
The building was imploded to make room for the new hockey arena and entertainment district in Detroit.
The Dykon Explosive Demolition Corp crew will now head to Rochester, New York to blast part of the Kodak facility.
