Demolition crews dropped a Plano water tower yesterday morning to make room for a new commercial and residential development, authorities said.
The 178-foot tall water tower near Texas 121 and the Dallas North Tollway was erected in 1985, but it hasn’t been used in nearly five years.

The 30-year-old tower was being removed for the planned Legacy West shopping and residential area.
