Tioxide Tower – for decades an iconic feature of the Grimsby skyline – is no more.
In a flash, a total of 120 individual charges ripped through the base of the 350ft structure, in a spectacular controlled demolition that reduced the stack to rubble in seconds.
A symbol of global industrial might throughout the latter half of the last century, it became a lonely reminder of the precarious nature of international commodity businesses in recent years, having stood idle since March 2009.
