Strength of Statesman Towers’ lift shaft and core takes planners by surprise.
According to local news reports, there has been a change in demolition strategy at Indiana State University’s Statesman Towers; and not just because contractors have realised (belatedly) that wrecking balls are just so last century.
Although it would have been obvious to just about anyone that has ever set foot on a demolition site, it appears that the strength f the building’s inner core – containing lift shafts and stairwells – are a wee bit tougher than the structure’s outer.
