Well-known Scottish contractor appoints insolvency practitioner.
George Hunter (Demolishers), the company that traded as Hunter Demolition, has been forced to appoint a liquidator following a protracted battle with Her Majesty’s Customs & Revenue.
A petition was presented to Glasgow Sheriff Court by the Advocate General for Scotland for and on behalf of the Commissioners for Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs for the company to be wound up by the Court and to appoint a liquidator. The appointed insolvency practitioner is French Duncan LLP in Hamilton.
Regular readers will recall that we originally (and prematurely) reported on the demise of the company back in October of last year but were forced to remove the story having been reassured by the directors that our reporting was inaccurate.
Hunter Demolition, a member of the National Federation of Demolition Contractors, was a well-known and respected name in Scottish demolition circles. But the company’s reputation extended beyond Scottish borders. In yet another example of the awards kiss of death, Hunter Demolition won the Demolition Contract of the Year award in 2013 for its work in Queen Street in the heart of Glasgow city centre.
