October earmarked for implosion of 15-storey Hawick Court.
An empty 15-storey block of flats in Greenock looks set to be demolished by explosion in October. River Clyde Homes have applied to Inverclyde Council for permission to ‘blow down’ Hawick Court.
The whole project is expected to cost £800,000 and will include the site being re-levelled and grassed over.
Graham McDowall, asset planning and delivery manager, said: “Hawick Court has been vacant for some time now and we have applied for consent to demolish the building. If we get consent we would propose to blow it down safely in October 2015.”
Hawick Court is the last block of high flats in the Belville Street area where work to knock down the prominent multi-storey structures began seven years ago. Several were demolished by explosion on the same night in March 2013.
