DSM consults with residents ahead of 15 March implosion.
Residents living in the ‘exclusion zone’ around Northampton’s Greyfriars bus station aired concerns with demolition experts during a drop-in event at the Guildhall for affected people on Wednesday.
The 1970s brutalist building is set to be brought down on Sunday March 15 using controlled explosives and 414 properties in the surrounding area will be evacuated on the day. Contracts manager for DSM, which is conducting the demolition, Billy Young, said that only a small handful of people attended the event, with the general feedback on the evacuation procedures being ‘positive’.
He said residents, who are being provided a shelter on the day at the Park Inn, are being advised to take money, medicines, glasses and any other essentials on the day and are advised to keep all windows of their properties shut.
