Patrick Williamson broadcasts to the free world.
Anyone that has attended an NFDC function in the past decade or so will know that former convention chairman Patrick Williamson loves a microphone. Indeed, rumour suggests that his near-drowning at the convention in Killarney was caused when he was drawn – like a moth to a flame – by a passing ship’s PA system.
So it should probably come as no surprise to learn that Williamson has turned up on the mighty BBC Radio.
Fresh off the back of organising the Fed’s Midlands and Welsh regional ball – which raised a staggering £20,000 for a number of charities including the nearby Myton Hospice – Williamson was a guest on the Irish Show hosted by Bob Brolly.
Williamson used the opportunity to name-check (I think that’s ‘gave a shout out to’ in modern parlance) a number of local demolition contractors including Carwarden, Coleman and Company and DSM.
Although the interview is interspersed by music that, to me at least, sounds like a lost weekend in Temple Bar, it is well worth a listen.
You can check it out here using the BBC iPlayer if you’re in the UK – Just fast-forward to the 2.10 mark.
