Demolition News takes up the ALS Ice Bucket challenge.
If you are blessed with a computer, an Internet connection and a functioning set of eyes, you will be aware that a frosty video craze is sweeping the web as we speak.
Designed to raise awareness of Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative condition often known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has been taken up by the likes of Bill Gates, Martha Stewart, David Beckham and a host of other celebrities (including a particularly fine effort from Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters who channels his inner Carrie in this outstanding film).
However, we thought it was about time that the world of demolition got in on the act. And, since I wouldn’t ask anyone to do something I wouldn’t do myself, I took the challenge in order to throw down the gauntlet to some notable folk here in demolition land, and a few in the world of construction trade media.
We hope you enjoy the film; we hope our challenge is accepted; and we hope that they will send us their films so we can share them with you. But, above all, we hope we can do our part to raise awareness of ALS. If you’d like to get involved, please make a donation here.
