Crews begin clearance of disused buildings as part of college expansion.
Work is underway to clear redundant buildings to make way for a new city centre development.
Demolition work is starting on redundant properties on Holmeside in Sunderland. It forms part of preparatory work on the wider Holmeside Triangle site.
Asbestos and materials of value have been stripped from the properties, with internal works already under way to make the final demolition a quick job.
The old Kwik Save supermarket and car park were cleared last year to make way for new developments.
Part of the site is earmarked for a new campus for Sunderland College, and a planning application has already been lodged with the city council.
