Each working morning, I look to the heavens and give thanks that my job simply requires me to sit on my behind, beating a keyboard when there are countless jobs out there that I’d be (a) less willing or (b) less able to tackle: sewage worker; politician; tax inspector; or anything that required interaction with Simon Cowell. High on that list would also be the job of steeplejack.
But while that specific, vertical career path is not for me, I do have enormous admiration for those for whom no job is too tall, no height is too high.
So I must admit that I was very impressed by this vide that shows the team at Midlothian-based Pendrich Steeplejacks tackling the systematic demolition of a huge steel chimney.
