Former Demex director handed 11 year sentence.
Graham Wilson, a former director of Rotherham-based Demex Ltd and an often outspoken member of the National Federation of Demolition Contractors, has been jailed for 11 and a half years having admitted 24 charges of sexual offences against two young girls. The majority of the offences were against a girl aged between 13 and 16 and dated back to 1978. A second victim was aged 15 when she was indecently assaulted in 1994.
Wilson was initially charged in October 2012 but fled the UK to Northern Cyprus to avoid jail. South Yorkshire Police issued a European Arrest Warrant and circulated that Wilson, formerly of West Bawtry Road, Rotherham, was a wanted man.
Officers tracked Wilson’s movements and were led to Cyprus in November last year. He was arrested and extradited back to the UK.
Wilson was added to the Sex Offenders’ Register for life and will be the subject of a life-long Sex Offenders Prevention Order, which means he will be closely monitored after he is released.
According to Companies House records, Wilson’s directorship with Demex was terminated in May 2012.
