A major implosion has brought an end to the life of one of the most unimaginatively-named sporting stadiums in the world.
The “Municipal Cylinder” in Montevideo, Uruguay was opened in 1956. During its life, it held countless sporting events including the 1967 World Bastekball Championships. The 18,000 seat venue also played host to rock concerts by the likes of Bob Dylan, Deep Purple, Van Halen and Shakira.
