Armac Group commenced demolition work this weekend to mark the start of a one-year project to transform part of Coventry’s ring road.
The work, part of the £59 million Friargate project, will create a bridge linking the city centre and railway station.
Councillor Rachel Lancaster, Coventry City Council cabinet member for public services, said visitors arriving in Coventry by train were currently met by a “car park”.
“We need to link our rail station with the city to create a fantastic first impression of Coventry,” she said.
