Authorities failed to warn drivers even though collapse was just 75 feet from busy road.
While much of the demolition industry continues to scratch its head over the cause of the last-minute change of methodology that felled the Howard Johnson Hotel in Fort Lauderdale earlier this week, local residents and drivers are up in arms over the lack of prior warning given.
The demolition took place just 75 feet away from the busy A1A highway and yet drivers were not warned of the impending collapse nor was traffic halted. The tripping of the building caused a huge dust cloud to consume the road, much to the amazement of drivers and pedestrians.
This local news video shows the demolition from a different angle and highlights just why drivers were so surprised.
