Victim of roof fall death named as Scott Harrower.
A workman who died after he fell 25ft through the roof of an industrial unit has been named as Scott Harrower. Harrower, 42, is believed to be from Scotland.
He was one of two men seriously injured when they plunged through the same roof in Stockport during separate incidents on Tuesday.
Harrower was airlifted to Wythenshawe Hospital with serious head and body injuries but later died. Police confirmed his family has been informed. Harrower’s workmate, a 45-year-old man who has not been named, remains in a serious but stable condition at Wythenshawe Hospital.
A joint police and Health and Safety Executive investigation into the tragedy is continuing.
Police and paramedics were called to the same site in Stockport – industrial units on Manchester Road in Heaton Norris – at 9.15am on Tuesday then again at 3.50pm.
Both men are believed to have fallen around 25ft through the same section of roof into the body of the unit they were working to demolish. They are understood to have been contracted to pull down two metal units previously occupied by furnishings company Carpetright next to the current DIY store Wickes.
Local news report suggest that the demolition work was being carried out by Rochdale-based C Smith and Sons to carry out the work. The company is currently unavailable for comment.
