One dead, more injured as demolition excavator strikes WWII bomb.
We are receiving reports from the Nordrhein-Westfalen region of Germany that an excavator operator has been killed in a blast after his machine struck an unexploded World War II bomb.
According to local news reports, the operator was killed instantly while a number of others were injured in the blast. The excavator (pictured) also caught fire in the blast.
The blast broke windows in close proximity to a site and the explosion was apparently audible more than a mile away.
