You can help keep us on the straight and narrow in 2014.
Before we set our targets and goals for 2014, we thought it would be worthwhile to take a look back at 2013 to see where we might improve. And we were shocked by our own underlying anger. During 2013 – or as we now know it, the Year of the Rage – we kicked against so much it is virtually impossible to recount them all.
We railed against anyone involved – directly or indirectly – in any accident that hurt or killed a demolition worker. We railed against companies that ducked their corporate responsibilities by cutting back on training. We railed against companies that ducked their moral obligations by sliding into administration leaving debts and unemployed workers in their wake, only to re-emerge a week or two later with a clean slate and a new name. And we railed against organisations that placed ego ahead of loyalty.
So, after some anger management counselling and a big handful of Citalopram, we have decided that 2014 will be different. We resolve to:
1. Be less angry (unless someone really deserves it)
2. Be less critical
3. Be less quick to judge
If you see us going back on these promises, please, please call us on it (whilst being aware of Point 1 above).
Oh, and one final thing. If anyone sees Mark Anthony entering a shoe shop with an intent to buy, you have our permission to punch him hard in the neck!
We sincerely hope that the global demolition industry has a safe, prosperous, safe, fruitful and safe 2014.
