Two metre deep Chinese block faces demolition.
From the front, this building in Nanning, in China’s Guangxi province appears perfectly normal if a little run-down. A few shops on the ground floor, apartments above; noting out of the ordinary.
Look at it from the side, however, and the reason for its imminent demolition becomes all too evident. Despite being four storeys high, the building is just two metres deep (that just over six feet in old money).
Quite how this illegal building came into existence is something of a mystery, although it would come as no surprise to learn that the architect had also studied aerodynamics.
The demolition should also make for an interesting spectacle, assuming a stiff breeze doesn’t beath them to it!
