Albanian blast might have gone according to plan – who knows.
Explosives engineers are the goalkeepers of the demolition world. They can go weeks, months or even years without a single problem. But the moment they make a tiny mistake, the eyes of the world fall upon them.
But who can say that the contractor behind this blast in the Albanian capital Tirana was at fault. Sure, he might have misjudged the structural integrity of the block. Yes, he might have used insufficient explosives or some that failed to detonate.
Or maybe, just maybe, the client said they wanted the building down but failed to specify by how much…?
