Crews vow to soldier on with plan despite fatality.

Demolition crews are not planning to change their procedures for the new St. Paul Saints ballpark in downtown St. Paul following a worker’s death at the site.

Sixty-one-year-old Johnny Valek of Plymouth was killed earlier this month when a piece of concrete fell on him.

Rachel Contracting, the demolition subcontractor working on the Lowertown Ballpark for Ryan Companies and the city of St. Paul, has completed its review of the demolition plan it created for the Diamond Products building located on the ballpark site.

On Wednesday, they released the results, which found that the current approach is the best for demolishing the remaining structure, Ryan Companies reported.
