Houston Macy’s to fall this weekend; public warned to stay away.
There will be no ring-side seats, or anything close to it, for the implosion of the former downtown Macy’s store.
Scheduled to start shortly after sunrise Sept. 22, the implosion at 1110 Main St. is being handled by Houston-based Cherry Companies.
Cherry has developed a “perimeter protection plan” for the area around the 10-story building and uniformed police officers and firefighters will be on hand to provide support, according to a news release from the Houston Fire Department.
“Due to the location of the implosion site there will be no ‘safe viewing site lines’ to observe the implosion,” the release stated.
Even news photographers are scrambling to find a vantage point.
