NDA past president’s company hit by fatal accident.
It is just a few short weeks since Rachel Contracting – the Minnesota-based demolition company whose CEO Don Rachel is immediate past president of the National Demolition Association – was featured on local news stations for its involvement in the demolition of the Gillette/Diamond Products building in St Paul ahead of the development of a new 7,000 seat ballpark.
Today, the company and the contract are back in the news, only this time the reason is far more tragic.
Although details are still filtering through, it is believed that a Rachel Contracting worker was killed earlier today when debris fell onto the cab of an excavator he was operating. It is the second fatal demolition accident in the US in a 24-hour period, and this latest one is eerily similar to the incident that killed John Brdaric yesterday.
Our thoughts are with the families, friends and colleagues of both men.
