US implosion fans take note – Three power plants to be popped.
Duke Energy will start demolition of the retired coal units at its Cliffside, H.F. Lee and Weatherspoon power plants later this year.
The demolition will take several months in each case, with one of the final operations being the implosion of the powerhouse and chimneys at the sites.
The implosion at Cliffside is expected to take place next year. But the implosions at Lee and Weatherspoon could occur as late as 2015.
