Guard killed in Kenya demolition…

Man killed attempting to halt demolition exercise.

A man was killed earlier today when Askaris council demolished several kiosks in Nairobi’s Kangemi area.

It is believed the deceased was crushed by a machine the council was using to flatten the structures.

Nairobi police boss Benson Kibui said the deceased was a guard at the site and its believed he tried to stop the exercise when he was run over.

“The body has been found in the rubble. We are investigating,” said Kibui.

Police clashed with a group of traders in the area who were protesting the demolition of their kiosks by the council Askaris.
