Official footage captures majesty of a textbook dual implosion.
With the dust barely settled on the Gorbals site following this weekend’s dual implosion, Coleman and Company has released a pair of official videos of the event that capture in detail the successful blast.
The 24 storey blocks stood 69 metres tall and contained 394 flats. They were completed in 1971 and were taken down in a controlled explosive demolition following months of detailed planning with the building owner New Gorbals Housing Association, the Police, Glasgow City Council, the Highways Agency, Network Rail, and extensive engagement with the local community.
The demolition project, commissioned by New Gorbals Housing Association and managed by Coleman & Company Limited since February this year, paves the way for a new Health Centre for the Gorbals as well as social housing and office accommodation for the Association.
